Growing up on the east side of Detroit, Ofc. Pitts considers himself a helper, especially when it comes to mentoring the next generation of Detroiters.

This month the city begins drilling down on four different policy areas. Public in-person meetings are being held at the Joseph Walker Williams Community Center at 8431 Rosa Parks Blvd. Each meeting is expected to last about two hours.

One of the brightest and best students at East English Village Preparatory Academy at Finney is 12th grade scholar Maressa Rich.
Over the years Habitat has built and rehabbed over 150 homes in the area, and their work continues today. Much of the organization’s work in Morningside can be seen on Lakepointe.

Morningside's 4th annual Holiday Lights Contest brought a dazzling display of festive cheer to the neighborhood this winter. Homes, businesses, and entire blocks transformed into winter wonderlands, resulting in over 30 nominations for our contest – many receiving multiple entries!

You can help Morningside kids stay warm through the second annual “Share the Warmth” winter clothing drive. Morningside Café is collecting new or gently used winter coats, hats, gloves, and scarves for kids of any age until the end of this month.
