A sampling of activities that the Morningside Community Organization board has planned for residents — mark your calendars now and stay tuned for more!

This month the city begins drilling down on four different policy areas. Public in-person meetings are being held at the Joseph Walker Williams Community Center at 8431 Rosa Parks Blvd. Each meeting is expected to last about two hours.

For a variety of preventable reasons, measles is coming back with a vengeance in some parts of the country, and it’s only a matter of time before it comes for Detroit’s children if our vaccination rates don’t improve.

Every April, at the Morningside Community Organization general meeting, we take nominations for the Board of Directors. Nominations are also open just before the election is run at the May general meeting.

Here is a list of addresses in Morningside that we know once had homeowners likely eligible for these funds.

We welcome your help to make it a success by participating in one or more of our Summer Sizzler committees: Food, Logistics, Outreach, Publicity, Kids’ Activities, Activities for Adults, Sponsorships/Donations, and Registration.

The Blight Brigade will take on reporting owners of derelict properties and holding them responsible for clean up and maintenance.
